Aquí la Review de un fan
The show was amazing. I had amazing seats in the front row to the left. Ed was awesome. He came over and shook my and my sisters hands. He has super soft hands btw. The only downside was the abusive bouncers who were harassing people for using their electronic devices. An announcement at the beginning of the show would have been sufficient. There was no need to pull girls out of the audience and yell at them for using their smart phones. (I was not one of them but it created a very tense and unwelcoming environment that most people do not associate with going to PJ/Ed/side project shows) There were signs everywhere outside in the lobby too but it was just needless. I’ll let someone else do the play by play but that’s my take. Oh yeah and the Better Man was the alternate version that was played at Bridge St.
Twenty-two years ago today, Sub Pop held its historic Lamefest show, featuring Mudhoney, TAD and Nirvana, at the 1,400-capacity Moore Theater in Seattle. Nirvana’s then second guitarist, Jason Everman, made a brave sartorial choice, wearing Mickey Mouse shorts onstage. You can get a look at them in this video from that evening:
—————————————————————————————————————————————-
What possibly could have inspired Everman’s outfit? “I made the Mickey Mouse shorts I wore onstage,” he revealed to me. “It was kind of absurd, the red pants with the big yellow buttons. I got the idea from this Calvin and Hobbes story, which I thought was really funny. In the comic, Hobbes is telling Calvin, ‘Check out my Mickey Mouse pants.’ And Calvin is like, ‘I don’t know.’”
Layne [Staley] was the king of really dark humor. And Jerry will tell you this, too—Layne was the only guy that would take it a step further. Like, you’d come up with a crazy dead baby joke or something and he would always take it to someplace totally darker…. We used to laugh our way around the world.
Was definitely a fan of Sub Pop Records before being involved with them. When I was in junior high, I guess it was ’91 or ’92, I was an extra in this movie called The Program with James Caan. It’s a terrible movie. They were filming it in South Carolina, and I convinced my parents to let me take three days off of school to be an extra in the football stands. I remember my brother had made me a tape with Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge by Mudhoney on one side and Nirvana’s Bleach and ‘Sliver’ single taped on the other side. I had my headphones on and didn’t have any friends with me, so I just smoked cigarettes and listened to those bands. I must’ve listened to that tape probably 50 times over the course of those three days, and that was basically what made me the alterna-grunger I would later become.
