Me meto un tiro,
¡Pum!
El eco suena,
¡Pum!
O quizás es el corazón,
¡Pum!
Que todavía sueña.

«Unpublished» Photos of Alice In Chains

Bryan Carlstrom (who passed away recently, rest in peace) uploaded photos of Layne Staley’s final recording sessions with Alice In Chains to his Facebook in February 2011, but they did not spread online until yesterday. These are the first photos to ever surface of the original incarnation of Alice In Chains’ final recording sessions. There is only one photo of Layne Staley from the sessions, a photo of somebody handing Layne a birthday cake. There are several photos of Jerry Cantrell, Sean Kinney, and Mike Inez. This is the second ever photo of Layne Staley to surface from 1998, the other being a photo of Staley on Halloween 1998 at Jerry Cantrell’s concert in Seattle.

Mark Arm sobre el nuevo disco

Mark Arm sobre el nuevo disco

Mark Arm about the new album

Is this like The Lucky Ones where you’re putting down the guitar or are you playing on this album?
I play guitar on four songs out of the ten. I really like being able to hop around and not play guitar…but I also like playing guitar. Initially Steve [Turner] kinda insisted that I play guitar when I was in a band with him before Green River; We both played guitar in that band [Mr. Epp and The Calculations], and I think he wanted to tether me down a little bit. Still though, in the early days of Mudhoney, we’d go flailing into the crowd with our guitars, but after a while you stop doing that ’cause it hurts.

Dave Grohl: “Meg White is one of my favorite drummers”

IN ENGLISH

You listen to John Bonham, and his feel was not metronomic, but it was legendary. Keith Moon played like he was on fire. He was a wild drummer. He was sloppy and he was fuckin’ frenetic and manic, but that’s the Who. Stewart Copeland, his tempo would fuckin’ blast off like the space shuttle, but that’s the Police. Nowadays, I think it could be hard for a kid to find a favorite drummer, because a lot of that personality is being robbed from these musicians for the sake of perfection, and it’s kind of a drag. It’s nice to hear drummers like Meg White – one of my favorite fucking drummers of all time. Like, nobody fuckin’ plays the drums like that. Or the guy from the Black Keys. Watch that guy play the drums – it’s crazy. The dude from Vampire Weekend. Like, if any of those people went to the Berklee School of Music they’d never be accepted, because they’re not considered technically proficient. But their music’s totally changed the world.

‘New’ Pre-Pearl Jam Eddie Vedder Demos Discovered

eddie-grass

Sacado de // From: http://www.antiquiet.com and http://portalternativo.com

IN ENGLISH

From 1988 to 1989, future Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder recorded a few four-song demo tapes that are fairly well-known among the hardcore fans. The earliest tapes were solo recordings, and the latter ones came out of recording sessions with his pre-PJ San Diego band Bad Radio. These recordings have made their way over the years, as some of the old cheap tapes that Vedder would buy in bulk made it into the hands of collectors with the tools to digitize them.

In addition to a group of originals (which included a very early version of Betterman), the tapes in circulation also included a somber cover of Bruce Springsteen’s One Step Up, an early indicator of Vedder’s fondness for The Boss.

It’s been a long time since anything “new” has surfaced, but Antiquiet recently came into possession of a direct copy of a tape that Eddie dubbed for a co-worker at his old job at San Diego Petroleum, somewhere in range of late 1989 or early 1990. On it we found thirteen tracks, including a couple entirely “new” recordings (to the PJ fanbase at least), a few familiar ones, and most substantially, far more listenable dubs of both 1989 Bad Radio demos.

In addition to cleaner-sounding recordings than anything we’ve heard before, other gems on the tape worth mentioning are a falsetto-laden karaoke-machine cover of Something Inside So Strong, a track made famous by Kenny Rogers, as well as a brief, lighthearted cover of Sam Cooke’s Wonderful World. Fans seeing I’m Alive on the tracklist shouldn’t confuse the boisterous and rather comical track with Pearl Jam’s signature single Alive, as this particular song takes issue with rap music and profound lyrical expectations rather than an Oedipal tale of a fatherless child.
