“It’s well-deserved,’’ he said. “I loved those guys.’’

Of course, there is something you can’t really call an ulterior motive. Call it a glimmer of hope.

“If even one of our group was considered and inducted, it says a lot for them and, associatively, about our whole city,’’ Cantrell said.

Plus, “it’d be nice, I guess,’’ to see Alice in Chains take up residence in the I.M. Pei building on the Lake Erie waterfront as well, he conceded.
