El antiguo miembro de Stone Temple Pilots y Velvet Revolver toca aquí dos veces con su nueva banda, Saturday, como parte de las sesiones de Sunser con duración de tres días.

En pocos días, Weiland se embarcó en una gira programada previamente que incluía una parada en San Diego en el House of Blues. “I think it’s good for us to be there,” Weiland said. “Because a lot of important people from the industry are there and can get familiar with the sound of the new band and hear a selection of our new songs. I think that’s an important thing.
“We’ll play new stuff and some older stuff, songs from every band that I’ve been in.”
The veteran singer didn’t waste any time after he was “officially terminated” by Stone Temple Pilots last year, which quickly replaced him with Linkin Park vocalist Chester Bennington.
Within days, Weiland embarked on a previously scheduled tour that included a San Diego stop at House of Blues. The tour found him performing the songs from his former band’s first two albums, “Core” and 1994’s “Purple,” in their entirety. Four of the five musicians who backed him on that tour are now in his new band, The Wildabouts.
Does it feel strange to play some of those songs now without Stone Temple Pilots, which became a major international rock attraction in the 1990s?
“No,” Weiland replied. “Because in my (new) band, we figured out our own versions, our own arrangements, and we’ve added our own sound to it.”

Miembros de las antiguas bandas de Sub Pop, Love Battery, TAD, y The Fluid, se han juntado para formar un supergrupo, Vaporland, que acaban de lanzar su disco homónimo debut.
Según el co-fundador de Screaming Trees, Van Conner, quien está lanzando Vaporland en su sello, Strange Earth Records, el grupo consta de: el bajista de TAD Kurt Danielson, Garrett Shavlik de The Fluid, Ron Nine y Kevin Whitworth de Love Battery y el vocalista Katie Scarberry.
Conner dice que la banda “se juntó simplemente para rockear y pasarlo bien» y describre la música de la banda como «Angular, con algo de post punk etéreo, pop psicodélico» con un montón de Blues ” El proyecto ha sido producido por el productor de Seattle Jack Endino. Members of Sup Pop’s early flagship bands Love Battery, TAD, and The Fluid have joined together to form the supergroup Vaporland, which has now released its debut self-titled album.
According to former Screaming Trees co-founder Van Conner, who is releasing Vaporland on his label Strange Earth Records, the group consists of TAD bassist Kurt Danielson, the Fluid’s Garrett Shavlik, Love Battery’s Ron Nine and Kevin Whitworth, and vocalist Katie Scarberry.
Conner says that the band “got together for no other purpose than to rock and have fun” and describes the band’s music as ”angular, driving post punk and ethereal, psychedelic pop” with “blues-drenched licks.” The project was produced by Seattle producer Jack Endino.
