The remaining members of Nirvana were very close to play «Milk It» with Pj Harvey

En una nueva entrevista con New Musical Express, Dave Grohl ha reveló que los miembros restantes de Nirvana llegaron a plantearse contar con PJ Harvey como vocalista para un cover de Nirvana en el concierto de los Sound City Players de Londres.

De vez en cuando hablamos de ello (sobre hacer una cover de Nirvana). Para el concierto de los Sound City Players que hicimos en Londres pensábamos en músicos que pudiéramos invitar,  ya que Stevie Nicks y John Fogerty no pudieron venir. A alguien se le ocurrió hacer una canción de Nirvana con PJ Harvey. A Kurt le encantaba (PJ Harvey) y a nosotros también y pensamos, “Si, ¿qué haríamos?” Y dije, “Dios, ¿y si hacemos “Milk It” de “In Utero” con Polly cantando?” Todos nos miramos en plan, “Guau, eso sería maravilloso…” ¡Pero ella no pudo!

Pero como ya dijo hace poco en una entrevista, hacer una cover de Nirvana no es algo fácil:

Es terreno sagrado. Si alguna vez fuésemos a hacer algo así tendría que ser adecuado porque quieres rendir tributo. Hay una razón por la que Foo Fighters no toca canciones de Nirvana y esa es una buena razón.

In a new interview with NME, Dave Grohl revealed that Nirvana decided to perform an ‘In Utero’ track at a Sound City Players show in London with PJ Harvey recently, but then found out Harvey couldn’t do it,

“For the Sound City gig here in London we were thinking about musicians that we could invite because Stevie Nicks and John Fogerty couldn’t make it. Someone came up with the idea of doing a Nirvana song with PJ Harvey. Kurt loved her and we love her and we thought, ‘Yeah, what would we do?’ I said: ‘God, what if we were to do ‘Milk It’ from ‘In Utero’ with Polly singing?’ We all looked at each other like, ‘Woah, that would be amazing…’ and then she couldn’t do it!” Grohl has said “Milk It” is his favorite Nirvana song in past interviews.

Grohl added, “The thing is, it’s sacred ground. If we were ever to do something like that it would have to be right because you want to pay tribute. There’s a reason Foo Fighters don’t do Nirvana songs, and it’s a good reason.”
