La HBO ha estrenado un trailer extendido de “Sonic Highways”, la serie de Foo Fighters que se estrenará el próximo viernes 17 de octubre.
Gracias al trailer hemos podido ver que, entre otros, aparecerán Willie Nelson, Josh Homme, Slash, Chris Martin, Paul Stanley, Dan Auerbach, Chuck D, Dolly Parton o Pharrell Williams.
La noche antes del estreno, la banda desvelará el primer single del álbum, “Something From Nothing”.
Dave Grohl cuenta:
Básicamente, el proceso es que vamos a una ciudad y pasamos una semana ahí y empezamos a grabar un (tema) instrumental porque entrevisto a todos esos músicos diferentes de la ciudad.
De las entrevistas, saca frases que aparecen en las letras.
Hablo de la relevancia regional de la música de la ciudad, su influencia cultural, ese ‘sonido hecho’ para la música. No hay manera de que puedes explicar la historia musical de una ciudad en una hora así que lo tienes que hacer de una manera que tenga relación con la banda y vaya del punto A al punto B y se convierta en una canción.
Cada uno de los episodios termina con el tema compuesto en la ciudad.
El guitarrista Pat Smear cuenta:
Mayormente queríamos escoger canciones que significaran algo para nosotros así que sale Seattle, donde Dave hizo el primer disco de Foo Fighters y su historia con Nirvana.
De otras ciudades, cuenta Grohl que estuvieron en Chicago trabajando con Steve Albini o en Washington D.C. por ser su ciudad natal.
Como sabéis, la serie durará ocho episodios y a mitad de su emisión, será cuando se publique el álbum, el 10 de noviembre.
Foo Fighters’ upcoming Sonic Highways album features 8 songs recorded in 8 different cities: Chicago, Washington DC, Seattle, Los Angeles, New York, New Orleans, Austin, and Nashville. The process is also documented on the band’s new HBO series. All of these cities have major significance, in some cases in Dave Grohl and Foo Fighters’ career, and in others in the history of rock and roll. Here are the stories behind all of the cities, and why Sonic Highways had to make pit stops at all 8 of them.
Foo Fighters will release “Something From Nothing,” the lead single off of Sonic Highways, on Thursday at 10:00AM CST. A clip of the song can be heard in a new preview below from 2:00 to 2:30.
