A través del Ten Club podemos enterarnos de que dentro de poco, en la página oficial de Pearl Jam se pondrá información sobre el nuevo disco de Stone Gossard.
Stone Gossard planea sacar su segundos disco en solitario, Moonlander, el 25 de junio. El album incluye canciones como “I Need Something Different” y “Moon Landing.” Una canción del disco fue creada en 2003, mientras que la mayoría fueron grabadas hace unos 6 meses.

Las sesiones fueron muy bien, fueron muy rápidas. Estuvimos con Brendan O’Brien y de alguna manera nos puso en forma. Todos nos juntamos para traer otra sección de canciones, empezamos este proyecto hace 2 años. Justamente acabamos de terminar otras 7 u 8 de eso, (y ahora) las andamos escuchando para ver cuales terminarán en el disco. ¡Estamos cerca del área, usando una analogía futbolística! Quizá hayan algunas composiciones mías. No necesariamente como “Inside Job” pero hay una de la que estoy muy orgulloso.
Describiendo algunas de las canciones explica:
Creo que los fans oirán lo que somos y donde estamos ahora, será de su agrado, creo, a nosotros si (nos gusta). Aún no hemos visto qué meteremos en este disco. Algunas de las canciones que destacan son bastante increíbles. Matt (Cameron) ha compuesto una realmente guay, etérea, un poco U2-sera. Compuse una punk rock y una rollo Pink Floyd, así que hay un poco de todo. Ed ha escrito algunos cortes realmente bonitos, alguna cosilla tipo garajera y luego hay algunas cuantas letras bonitas. Pondremos todo en el rollo Pearl Jam, lo encenderemos y lo mezclaremos.
Finalmente destaca que le gusta “Of the Earth”, pero a Vedder no le acaba de convencer aún como suena en el estudio y que cree que algún día la banda podría grabar un disco en directo en el estudio.

The sessions went really well, they went very quick. We were with Brendan O’Brien, and he was kind of whipping us into shape. We all teamed together to bring in another section of songs, we started this project 2 years ago. We just recently finished another 7 or 8 from that or so, we’re listening to them to see which ones are going to end up ultimately on the record. We’re close to the end zone right now, football analogy!” He added, “There might be a few [of my compositions] on there. Not necessarily like ‘Inside Job,’ but there’s one I’m very very proud of.”
McCready described some of the new tracks, “I think the fans will hear what we are and where we are at now, it’s going to be to their liking I think, it is to us. We haven’t figured it out exactly what everything is that is going to be on this record. Some of the standout tracks on there are pretty amazing. Matt wrote a really cool one that’s kind of ethereal meets U2ness, I wrote kind of a punk rock one and a Pink Floyd thing, so there’s all these kinds of things going on. Ed has written some beautiful numbers, some kind of garagy type stuff and then also some beautiful lyrical kind of things. We’ll put all of those things in the Pearl Jam thing, and hit mix, and mix it up.”
He mentioned that he loves “Of the Earth” but Eddie doesn’t believe they’ve captured the live energy in the studio yet. The Rob said they should title the new album Of the Earth, Mike said it’d need to be on the album though.

El frontman de Queens of the Stone Age reconocía que la composición y grabación de “…Like Clockwork” ha sido un proceso complicado.
Sin entrar en demasiados detalles, creo que de vez en cuando este proceso es difícil. Fueron momentos difíciles. Pensé que podía escaparme de esto o darme de bruces con ello.
De volver a reunirse con Nick Oliveri y Mark Lanegan cuenta:
Nick vino a dejar unos discos y se ofreció a hacer coros. Nick y Mark cantan en la misma canción.
En cuanto a su relación con Oliveri:
Son ya 7 años bebiendo juntos desde que Nick dejó la banda.
Asegura que su relación con Oliveri es estrecha, igual que lo es con Lanegan. Además, el hecho de grabar con amigos lo entiende como una excusa de estar con ellos ya que muchas veces por lo apretado de sus agendas no es fácil que coincidan.
De la marcha del batería Joey Castillo y la suerte de que Dave Grohl pudiera echarle una mano casi al instante:
Dejé que Joey se fuera, tras 10 años juntos y eso es una jodienda. Dos días después estamos tocando con Dave porque no nos queda tiempo.
Homme agradece la ayuda del frontman de Foo Fighters a la vez que expone que musicalmente mantienen una relación especial.

In an interview with Zane Lowe yesterday on BBC Radio 1, Josh Homme discussed the difficult process of recording Queens of the Stone Age’s new album …Like Clockwork, the band’s first album in 6 years. Homme said, “Without getting into too much detail, I think every once in awhile this process is difficult.” He added, “It was a tough time. I thought I can run away from this or I can run into it.” He concluded though that like The Beatles said, he had to let it be.
Homme also discussed the reunion of the Songs For The Deaf lineup on the new album:
“Nick [Oliveri] was dropping off some records and offered to sing back up. Nick and Mark [Lanegan] appear on the same song.” He added, “There’s been 7 years of drinking together since Nick left the band.” Homme also said that he is close friends with Oliveri and Lanegan. He mentioned that recording with friends is “a way to hang out” with them since they can all get so busy.
Homme also discussed the firing of longtime drummer Joey Castillo and Dave Grohl stepping in to drum:
“I let Joey go and it’s 10 years together and it sucks, and 2 days later we’re playing with Dave because we don’t have the time.” Mentioned he’s thankful for the time they had, but they have to move on and he praised Dave Grohl and mentioned that they have a special relationship musically.
