Barrett Martin has recorded with Mark Lanegan years after of the end of Screaming Trees

El que fuese batería de Screaming Trees ha explicado vía Facebook algunos de sus próximos proyectos, entre los que destacan un cover de Jimi Hendrix con Mike McCready (Pearl Jam) o grabar con Mark Lanegan.
Pude grabar una canción de Jimi Hendrix con Mike McCready y Brand Carlile y como ingeniero y productor estuvo el gran Eddie Kramer, el tío que grabó todos los discos de Jimi, la mayoría de álbumes de Led Zeppelin y también trabajó con los Beatles, los Stones y muchos otros. Un ser humano increíble y un ingeniero y productor talentoso, qué pasada.
Poco después de esta sesión, pude tocar en el nuevo álbum de Mark Lanegan, de la que no salió ninguna foto excepto alguna vieja de Screaming Trees (mirad el álbum) y muchas risas en el cuarto de control.
Ahora mismo, Mike McCready y yo estamos trabajando en un álbum instrumental de paisajes sonoros; (también) tocó en algunos temas nuevos de Walking Papers y ahora andamos preparando la publicación de la caja de Mad Season para el 2 de abril. El primer single, “Locomotive” (con Mark Lanegan a la voz) empezará a ser radiado pronto. Estad atentos porque colgaré un enlace cuando la canción esté en streaming.
De momento, y cortesía de Amazon UK, podemos escuchar fragmentos de los temas que incluirá esa reedición del “Above”.

Former drummer of Screaming Trees explained via Facebook some of his upcoming projects, among them a cover of Jimi Hendrix with Mike McCready (Pearl Jam) or record with Mark Lanegan.
Hey Folks, I’ve had the most marvelous last few weeks and I’ve posted a few photos in the album below. In a nutshell, I got to record a Jimi Hendrix song with Mike McCready and Brandi Carlile and it was all engineered and produced by the great Eddie Kramer, the guy who recorded all of the Jimi records, most of the Led Zeppelin albums, and he also worked with the Beatles, the Stones, and many others. Amazing human being and a gifted engineer and producer, what a blast. Shortly after this session, I got to play on the new Mark Lanegan album, which did not result in any photos, except for a couple old Screaming Trees photos (see album) and lots of laughs in the control room. Right now Mike McCready and I are working on an instrumental soundscape album, he played on some new Walking Papers songs, and we are getting ready to release the Mad Season box set on April 2nd. The first single «Locomotive» (featuring Mark Lanegan on vocals) will be released to radio shortly. Stay tuned and I will post a link when the song goes streaming live. *

¿Es The Lucky Onesdonde dejas de tocar la guitarra o la sigues tocando en este disco Toco la guitarra en cuatro de las diez canciones. Realmente me encanta poder saltar por todos lados y no tocar la guitarra… pero a veces me gusta tocarla. Inicialmente Steve [Turner] me insistió en que tocase la guitarra cuando estaba en una banda con él, en Green River. Ambos tocamos la guitarra en [Mr. Epp and The Calculations], y creo que él quería mantenerme un poco controlado. Aúnque sin embargo, en los primeros días de Mudhoney, íbamos agitando al público con nuestras guitarras, pero después de un tiempo dejas de hacer eso porque duele.

Is this like The Lucky Ones where you’re putting down the guitar or are you playing on this album?
I play guitar on four songs out of the ten. I really like being able to hop around and not play guitar…but I also like playing guitar. Initially Steve [Turner] kinda insisted that I play guitar when I was in a band with him before Green River; We both played guitar in that band [Mr. Epp and The Calculations], and I think he wanted to tether me down a little bit. Still though, in the early days of Mudhoney, we’d go flailing into the crowd with our guitars, but after a while you stop doing that ’cause it hurts.
