Si “Oceania” no le sale bien o no se le ocurren reediciones que hacer, Billy Corgan va buscándose ocupaciones: si hace unas semanas conocíamos de su intención de montar una liga de lucha libre ahora ha desvelado que va a abrir una tetería en Chicago.

“Queríamos abrirlo porque no hay nada que hacer por ahí,” dice a Loudwire el líder de The Smashing Pumpkins del barrio donde planea instalarla, el Highland Park. “Creo que para un sitio tan bonito necesitas sitios a los que ir y conocer a gente e intercambiar ideas. Esa es la idea de la tetería… Un lugar de encuentro.”

El músico quiere hacer del trato personal y la exclusividad algo propio del local. “Starbucks se basa en hacer todo igual y atrae a la misma puta gente. Yo no quiero estar con esa gente. Yo no soy de la cultura de los clones.”

Cuenta que tratará de cambiar la decoración muy a menudo: “Mi sueño es cambiarlo 15-20 veces al mes e invitar a la gente a hablar de películas o tener una noche de micros abiertos.”

¿Y le veremos en el local recomendándonos alguna infusión o sirviéndonos un Earl Grey? “Si la gente viene a acosarme, no estaré por ahí porque no quiero molestar a los clientes.” Esta aventura, considera, le sirve para dar equilibrio a su creatividad. “He aprendido que si no rellenas la otra parte de tu vida con cosas en las que estés interesado, acaba afectando el lado musical.”
